Upgrade

This page is applicable to installations of NetConnect X 2.5.90
and above on Ubuntu

Overview

Periodic updates will be made available to supported customers in order to provide new features, modifications and bug fixes. The upgrade page provides administrators with a single location to download and apply the latest software version.

When navigating to the Upgrade page, the system performs a check against the central update server to determine the latest version available. The Available Version is updated accordingly.

It is recommended that a backup file is taken and, where possible, a restore point on your virtual environment is created prior to upgrading your system

Downloading the latest build

If a new build is available, it can be downloaded by clicking on the Download Latest Build button. Upgrade files are approximately 380MB, the progress of the download is displayed.

Once the download is complete, the upgrade file will be displayed within the Available Upgrades table.

Applying an upgrade file

Upgrade System

Once an upgrade file is available within the Available Upgrades table, it can be applied to the system. Select the relevant upgrade file and click on the Upgrade System icon on the upper right-hand side of the page.

The upgrade process can take up to 30 minutes and will require a reboot thereafter. All active sessions will be disconnected and your system will be unresponsive for the duration of the upgrade. Once the upgrade is completed a startup message will be displayed in the systems syslog. It will look similar to the below:

Oct 15 09:29:06 NCXSRV tomcat9[550090]: Server startup in [23388] milliseconds

You can search specifically for this line in syslog with the following command. (Ensure the time in the output is after the upgrade time.

grep -i “Server startup in” /var/log/syslog

Once the upgrade has completed reboot the server. We recommend you log in to your system, confirm all settings are as expected and the version number has changed to confirm the upgrade has been successful.
